At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in the Rhodope Mountains, Meto, an orphan, falls in love with Hatta—the headstrong and charismatic daughter of the wealthy Sharko. Meto was raised by his stern uncle, Adil. Bosha, a folk healer and Meto’s trusted friend, acts as an intermediary between them.
